WordPress maintenance for Canadian businesses

The work that happens whether or not you remember it exists: updates tested before they're applied, backups verified rather than assumed, and monitoring that tells us before it tells your customers.

Maintenance is not support. Here's the difference.

Maintenance is proactive. It happens on a schedule, you don't request it, and its success looks like nothing happening. Updates, backups, monitoring, integrity checks, security patches, performance regression checks.

Support is reactive. You ask for something and we do it. A page edit, a plugin configuration, a form that stopped sending, a new staff member who needs access.

Most agencies blur these together and then argue with you about what's included. We don't. → See how support works

What proactive maintenance actually covers

H3: Updates, tested first

Core, plugins, themes and translations — applied on a staging copy, checked, then promoted. Not applied blind to your live site at 3am and hoped for.

H3: Backups you could actually restore

Off-site, versioned, and periodically restored to a staging environment to prove they work. An untested backup is a belief, not a safeguard.

H3: Uptime and integrity monitoring

We watch for downtime, file changes, new administrator accounts, and outbound mail spikes. The last one catches a compromise days before anyone notices spam.

H3: Security patching on disclosure

When a vulnerability is published for a plugin you run, the window between disclosure and mass exploitation is short. We watch the disclosure feeds so you don't have to.

H3: Performance regression checks

Field Core Web Vitals reviewed monthly. Sites get slower gradually — a plugin here, a script there. Catching drift is cheaper than a rescue.

H3: A monthly report a human wrote

What we did, what we found, what we recommend, what it will cost. Not an automated PDF of green checkmarks.

What it's actually protecting you from

The cost of no maintenance isn't the monthly fee you saved. It's the emergency rate, the downtime, the lost enquiries during it, and — if customer data is involved — a reportable incident under PIPEDA or Law 25.

We know what emergency work costs because we do it. It is always more than the plan.
